Arrival

Be sure to arrive only about 5 minutes early in order to allow time for your child to get ready for the lesson.
Park in front of the house and proceed down the rock path on the south side of the house to reach the back yard.

What to Bring

Here is a list of items that you will need to bring for each class:

  • Swimsuit
  • Towel
  • Hair tie (prevents long hair from getting in the way during lessons)

Here are some common items that are NOT allowed during our swimming lessons:

  • Footwear
  • Toys from home (kickboards, diving sticks, etc.

A Note on Goggles…

Goggles will only be allowed with the instructor’s approval after the instructor determines that the child is able to swim safely WITHOUT goggles. It is a safety issue. A child who ends up in the water unexpectedly will not be wearing goggles, and it is important that the child does not panic and forget to swim due to the sensation of water in the eyes. Once the child has demonstrated this skill, the instructor will still require some swimming without goggles to maintain the ability to swim without them. This will be entirely based on the instructor’s discretion, and it is for the benefit of the swimmer.

During Class

Once the lesson begins, we ask that parents leave so that we can establish a good rapport and trust with your child. Most children do better with swimming lessons if their parents are not present.

  • Each class is 25 minutes long.
  • Each class is individualized based on the student’s needs and temperament.

Departure

The child(ren) will exit the pool promptly at the end of their lesson so the instructor can receive the next student. Please arrive on time to pick up your child. The instructor may not be able to discuss the lesson at the time of pickup. Questions can be answered via phone or email if the instructor is not available after the lesson.
